Currys chief executive Alex Baldock has said the retailer expects AI to be the “single biggest tech trend since the tablet” as more customers adopt AI products.

Speaking at Retail Week x The Grocer Live 2025, Baldock said more customers want to find out more about increasingly popular AI mobiles and laptops.

“We think this is going to be the single biggest tech trend since the tablet in 2010,” he said.

“Currys has got 75% market share of the AI products – we intend to be the standout beneficiaries of it.”

He admitted that while Currys isn’t “particularly advanced in AI” it is doing a decent job of deploying it.

“We have machine learning embedded in pricing, stock planning, merchandising, supply chain, and workforce for several years now.

“We wouldn’t have been able to make the big efficiencies in supply chain and service operations costs without AI.”
