Arcadia has signed a £50m deal with technology giant Oracle to aid its expansion online and overseas.

Sir Philip Green’s fashion group, which includes Topshop and Topman, will use the software to improve the running of supply chains and inventories through data capture, The Telegraph reported.

It will also help Arcadia better understand its international customer base.

Green said: “If you are not investing in new technology you are going to be left behind. Having the capability to go into a store with your phone, swipe it [and buy something] – we’ve got to get there.”

Green also said Arcadia was planning to open a distribution centre in the US at some point to support its growth.
