Online retail giant Shop Direct suffered the wrath of irate customers at the weekend when a computer glitch prevented flowers being delivered on Mother’s Day.

A technical error at its flower supplier meant many orders were not processed. The etailer apologised to customers, and stopped taking orders on flowers altogether across its brands.

A Shop Direct spokesman said it did not yet know what caused the error but was investigating. The spokesman could not clarify how many customers were affected. Shop Direct apologised to customers whose orders were not delivered, and offered them a refund and a £50 gift voucher or credit.
