The National Retail Federation has revealed the first version of its Mobile Retailing Blueprint.

The NRF has launched the guide to highlight mobile commerce as a key growth area for retail, and aims to assist retailers as they begin to adopt mobile technology.

It answers a series of key questions, and outlines ways for retailers to enhance their marketing, ecommerce and store operations, with a special section on implementation planning and technology.

Matt Shay, NRF President and CEO said: “The Mobile Retailing Blueprint is the definitive document to help retailers adopt a mobile strategy that makes sense for their organisation.”

Francisca Vicente-Tamarin, Information Technology Consultant for Spanish department store El Corte Ingles said: “For many retailers, mobile isn’t about the future, it’s about the present. The Mobile Retailing Blueprint is a major step forward in the adoption of best practices that will revolutionise the shopping experience for all our customers.”

The blueprint also explains secure mobile payment processes that will lower processing cost sand help provide customer convenience.

It will be supported by a series of initiatives, such as special events, new research and the shaping of standards, run through the NRF’s Mobile Retail Initiative.
