Amazon has confirmed that its annual sales event Prime Day will launch next month after being delayed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The online giant will run its annual sales event on October 13 and 14 in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Spain, Italy and Germany, alongside a host of other countries.

Amazon’s Prime Day event, which offers a slew of flash sales and discounts across categories ranging from technology to fashion, beauty and home for its Prime customers, was launched in 2015.

The sales event has previously run in July in a bid to drive sales and customer acquisition for Amazon, and last year triggered companies including Currys PC World and Argos to run rival sales to capture customer spend.

Amazon delayed its Prime Day this year as coronavirus sales growth and operational restrictions tested its ability to meet demand.

The online retailer is also set to launch its Black Friday sales bonanza the following month in November.
