Amazon’s e-cargo bikes and walkers will make over a million deliveries per year

The etail giant has opened a “micromobility” hub in Hackney to create more sustainable deliveries in the nation’s capital.

Alongside Amazon’s fleet of electric vehicles, the ecargo bikes and walkers will make over a million deliveries per year, across around a tenth of London’s ultra-low emission zones.

The new fleet is designed to directly replace van deliveries, reducing carbon emissions and congestion on London roads.

Amazon is planning to roll out the initiative to more locations in the coming months.

Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said: “Amazon is driving towards a global net-zero carbon future. One way we’re doing that is through the transformation of our transportation networks. Our new ecargo bikes, walkers and growing electric vehicle delivery fleet will help us make more zero emission customer deliveries than ever before across London and the UK in the coming months.”
