The big four supermarkets are being accused of sourcing from Brazilian farms responsible for illegal deforestation.
Following a three-year investigation by Greenpeace, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s were among a list of high-profile companies said to be profiting from products made by the Brazilian farms, mainly cattle products.
The supermarkets have insisted that its products are not from the Amazon.
Other companies named in the investigation include Clarks shoes, Timberland, Adidas and Nike, that Greenpeace say are using leather linked to the farms.
Greenpeace is calling for consumers to pressure supermarkets and high street stores and refuse to buy products from farms that have carried out illegal deforestation.
