Storey Carpets set to expand after sales rise

Storey Carpets has announced a sales increase and signalled its intention to increase its number of stores.

In the six months to the end of August, sales were up by 29 per cent to£14.3 million. Like for likes increased by 4.8 per cent.

Storey chief executive Simon Heptinstall hopes to add another four stores to the company's existing 33 in the next six months. This will be followed by a further four by the end of 2004.

Heptinstall attributed the company's success to its 'embracing of all kinds of flooring, not just carpets'.

In the year to February 28, gross profit was£3.2 million, compared with£2.4 million the previous year.
