The latest instalment of Retail Week’s Disruptors series shines a spotlight on some of the businesses reimagining bricks-and-mortar for a post-pandemic world.

After a bruising year of rolling store closures and the coronavirus-driven shift to digital shopping channels, retail property has been left facing something of an existential crisis. 

Data from the Centre for Retail Research highlights the toll that has been taken on stores and, consequently, jobs across the sector since Covid-19 hit. In 2020, more than 16,000 stores were shut with the loss of 182,546 jobs.
