The Cambridge Satchel Company opened its latest shop this morning, a two-floor, 1,400 sq ft store in London’s Covent Garden.

Private equity-backed emerging retailer The Cambridge Satchel Company has opened a flagship store in the heart of Covent Garden. The two-floor, 1,400 sq ft store trades from ground floor and basement levels on James Street and stands on the site of a former Swarovski outlet.

The interior has been modelled on a Georgian townhouse with perimeter panels that are intended to mimic those found in an 18th-century house and which are now used as display vehicles.

The store boasts a “beach hut” at the rear of the 750 sq ft basement floor where shoppers can have their purchases embossed. It also carries a discrete men’s offer with a range that is a move away from the core satchel line.

The retailer is to open two pop-up stores to cater for Christmas trade, in Glasgow and Edinburgh. These will be open by the beginning of December.
