Marks & Spencer has opened a new concept superstore in Stevenage.

The store is on the site of the former Debenhams “store of the future” at the Roaring Meg retail park.

The shop measures 75,000 sq ft across two floors and features a 174-seat in-store cafe.

The food hall is designed to have a market stall feel and includes fill-your-own stations for products such as pasta and rice.

The food hall also has an extensive wine selection with a wine-tasting zone where customers can scan their Sparks loyalty card to taste a sample of the top-picked wine selection.

The store also includes a Good Move activewear shop, an extensive kidswear range and the largest footwear section in an M&S store.

Additional areas include a large beauty range and a denim shop.

Customers can also purchase a range of flowers and plants in the flower shop and get their eyes tested at the in-store optician.

Technologies such as Scan & Shop have also been added to the store.

Outside the store, customers are greeted by a large Percy Pig statue on the rooftop, as well as digital screen showing M&S adverts.

M&S said it wanted the store to bring a “bigger, better, fresher shopping experience”.
