The Science Museum is due to open its first standalone pop-up store at Bluewater to capitalise on the busy Christmas trading period.

The1,300 sq ft store will be located next to the Reebok store and will be open from the beginning of November until December 31.

Visitors to the store will be invited to take part in immersive experiences including demonstrations of experiments, robots and gadgets.

Demonstrations will include the opportunity to test drive Anki Drive robot cars and are designed to provide inspiration for Christmas gifts.

Science Museum commercial director Sam Mason said the London-based museum chose Bluewater for its first pop-up store because it is “hugely popular with families, innovative and committed to delivering an engaging experience”.

The Science Museum pop-up is the latest in a slew of new openings at Bluewater following the launch of Steamer Trading Cookshop and Bill’s Restaurant at the shopping centre.

White Stuff, Rockar Hyundai and American Eagle are also due to open at Bluewater ahead of Christmas.

Land Securities portfolio director Russell Loveland describes the Science Museum pop-up as an “original idea” that focuses on entertaining and involving guests and as a result “is a great complement to our own ethos”.

He added: “It is also indicative of our commitment to continually evolving and innovating at Bluewater to deliver a unique offer.”
