Selfridges has opened up its Christmas shop 75 days before Christmas, this year with a sustainability twist.

Its full range of Christmas products will be available in its famous London store and online, as well as a selection in its Manchester and Birmingham branches.

Selfridges has honed in on a traditional family Christmas, aiming to capture the magic of ‘Once Upon a Christmas’.

In a move in keeping with Selfridges recent sustainability push, Project Earth, the Christmas shop is the retailer’s most environmentally friendly version to date.

Half of all products in the shop have at least one sustainable attribute such as being forest-friendly, plastic-free or made from recycled materials such as glass or paper.

Selfridges has labelled each of its products with their sustainable credentials, making it easier for customers to shop with the environment in mind.

It also features products made by UK-based artisans and small businesses.

Selfridges has worked with suppliers to create new collections this year using eco-conscious materials such as handmade felt and hand-painted paper mâché figurines with exclusive Selfridges designs.

This year, Selfridges’ crackers are also fully recyclable with no single-use plastics and all cards and wrapping paper are made from recycled materials.

The shop also features a ’pick and mix’ station, where customers are invited to select individual baubles to personalise their tree, rather than choosing from often plastic-heavy multipacks.

With personalisation in mind, the shop also features ‘The Workshop’ offering personalised decorations, gifting sacks, stockings and crackers.
