HMV is set to expand further into the UK and Europe with three new stores planned as part of its continued store rollout.

The new stores will be located in Peterborough in England, Cork in Ireland, and The Hague in the Netherlands as the retailer continues its investment in high-street retail.
HMV has invested significantly in its 100 existing sites to focus on refitting stores with the new “HMV Shop” concept, and there was a strong customer demand for a Peterborough store. It will open in Queensgate Shopping Centre later this year.
Cork represents the group’s third Irish store following openings in Dublin and Limerick. It will open in Merchants Quay Shopping Centre with the aim of “strengthening its position in the Irish market”.
The retailer will open its first store in The Netherlands, with a site in The Hague currently in the later stages of development. This will be its third EU market after Ireland and Belgium.
All three new stores will open in time for the Christmas shopping season.
HMV and Fopp managing director Phil Halliday said: “We’re constantly striving to create new homes for communities of fans to come together and share their love of music and popular culture. That’s why we’re so thrilled that, after five years of working on a deal, we’re finally able to open a new store in Peterborough and meet the strong public demand.”
“We are also set to open our first store in The Netherlands and a third store in Ireland before the end of the year, in The Hague and Cork respectively. We plan to continue focusing on opening stores in Ireland and across mainland Europe as our main targets for expansion, where it currently makes more sense to do so from a business point of view.”
“We always aim to bring ranges that can’t be found anywhere else under one roof. We’re confident that we can continue to bring something new to shoppers across the UK and Europe and hope that fans will share our excitement when we open the doors of our three new stores.”
