Beauty specialist Bodycare, which collapsed into administration earlier this month, is closing more shops.
Bodycare will shutter a further 30 stores on top of the 32 that closed immediately when it hit the buffers. The latest closures – 14 today and 16 on Thursday – bring the number of job losses at the retailer so far to 685, the BBC reported.
Administrator Interpath said that a number of parties have expressed interest in taking on some of Bodycare’s remaining 85 shops.
A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, however, given the shortage of stock and costs associated with operating stores, it is no longer viable to continue to trade all 115 stores retained on appointment.”
Bodycare’s woes have been blamed on factors such as rising rents and the “challenging times”, which retailers are confronting.
Interpath managing director and joint administrator Nick Holloway said: “We’d like to express our sincere thanks to the hundreds of dedicated Bodycare staff who have shown such professionalism since our appointment.
“We will continue to trade the remaining 85 stores while we remain in discussions with interested parties with the aim of preserving as much of the business as possible.”
