Sports Direct is exploring the possibility of growing its commercial supply arrangements with Findel’s largest subsidiary, Express Gifts.

In a statement, Findel said the move follows “successful commercial pilots” of Sports Direct clothing brands on Express Gifts’ website, intended to strengthen the product offer for its “value-conscious” customer.

As one of the first steps in the discussions, Sports Direct head of strategic investments Liam Rowley will attend Findel board meetings as an observer.

Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct is the majority shareholder in Findel.

Findel boss Phil Maudsley said: “Express Gifts continues to make strong progress in becoming an online value retailer of real scale.

“We look forward to exploring with Sports Direct the opportunities available for commercial supply arrangements, which we believe will further fuel the strong growth of Express Gifts and complement our digital transformation.”
