JD Sports has promoted Paul Orange to the role of managing director of JD UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Retail Week can reveal.

Orange, who currently serves as general manager for EMEA, will take on full responsibility of the region’s P&L and organisations.
He will also lead buying, own brand and marketing, alongside merchandising, digital and support functional leads across finance, property and HR as well as country managers.
Orange succeeds Michael Armstrong, who has stepped down from his role as managing director of the JD brand to pursue other opportunities.
The group said Orange’s appointment and new remit will bring JD’s EMEA region in line with the structures in place for its North American and APAC territories.
A JD spokesperson told Retail Week: “We are pleased to confirm that Paul Orange has been promoted to managing director of JD Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Previously general manager for this region, he brings more than 25 years’ experience with JD and has been integral to our growth journey, including playing a key leadership role in our early European expansion.
“At the same time, we can confirm that Michael Armstrong has stepped down from his role as managing director of the JD brand to pursue other opportunities.
“We sincerely thank Michael for his commitment, leadership, and contribution to JD over 30 years.”
