Retailer bids to raise profile after expansion drive

Somerfield today kicked off its first TV ad campaign since being taken private more than 18 months ago.

The initiative, developed by Somerfield’s creative agency WWAV Rapp Collins, features the supermarket’s latest deals and will run every day on national TV until March next year.

Somerfield head of marketing Julie Ward said: “The campaign reflects our business focus on building Somerfield’s reputation as the nation’s favourite local grocer.”

The grocer has recently bought 50 units, including two former Fopp stores, in an expansion drive. It has also converted 190 Texaco forecourts into petrol and fresh food grocery stores.
