Sites sought by Music Zone for new book format

Music Zone plans to follow in the footsteps of rival Fopp and open standalone bookstores.

Scottish retailer Fopp opened its first bookshop in Cardiff last month, and now Music Zone is looking at potential sites in the North of England and Scotland.

Music Zone, which has 50 shops at present, has trialled books in stores to complement its music offer.

The success of the venture led to the decision to open standalone locations.

Music Zone chairman Russ Grainger said: 'This is something we have been wanting to do for a while, and I think the Music Zone brand profile is now strong enough to encompass book retailing as well.'

A decision has not yet been made on what Music Zone's bookstores will be called.
