JD Sports has been voted the worst UK retailer for customer satisfaction.

The sports chain was followed closely by JJB Sports and Woolworths in a survey carried out by Which?

Waitrose and John Lewis claimed first and second place for shopper’s overall experience, both scoring particularly high on customer service. Waterstone’s also made it into the top 10, along with Marks & Spencer, Borders, Aldo and Lidl.

Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said: “It’s not rocket science – customers like retailers to treat them well. The best stores realise that the most important thing they can provide is helpful, well-informed staff.”

None of the big four supermarkets made it to the top of the table in the groceries category and in the fashion sector John Lewis came top, with Topshop and Topman at the bottom of the rankings.
