Home shopping business Shop Direct has averted strike action, after staff members voted in favour of a revised pay offer.

Shop Direct, which operates Littlewoodsdirect.com, last week modified its original proposal and struck a deal equating to a 9.24 per cent increase over two years. There will be a 4 per cent rise from October 1, followed by a 1 per cent increase in May next year and a 4 per cent hike next July. The increases cover all unionised rates of pay.

A ballot on the revised offer won majority backing from union members.

In a statement, Shop Direct said: “Shop Direct Group is delighted to have reached a successful conclusion on these talks and will continue to work closely with its trade union partners, as we continue to modernise our business.”
