Icon to join famous five for festive ads
Shirley Bassey is to front Marks & Spencer's Christmas ad campaign, which airs for the first time this Wednesday.

Bassey will star alongside the existing team of five famous names who have featured in the retailer's campaigns over the past year - Twiggy, Erin O'Conner, Laura Bailey, Noemie Lenoir and Lizzy Jagger.

The ad is filmed in the style of a spy movie and the five women act as undercover agents called to an assignment. Bassey also provides the soundtrack to the 90-second advert, which will be broadcast at 7.45pm.

M&S marketing director Steven Sharp said: 'We wanted a really glam, gorgeous feel to the TV ad this year, and who better to team up with our very stylish famous five than the ultimate UK music and style icon, Shirley Bassey.

'It's a real all-singing, all-dancing ad with every element of Christmas you could possibly imagine, from party dresses to reindeer and champagne.'

The advert will run until December 12 and will be supported by in-store activity.
