Selfridges signs head buyer to boost Freetime

Selfridges has created a head buyer role to invigorate trendy gadgets and gizmos department Freetime.

Ben Greer has been poached from hairdressing brand Charles Worthington, where he was marketing director, to lead the buying teams responsible for the department store group's home and leisure offer. The remit also includes sport and technology. Greer, who will take up his post in March, will report to buying and merchandising director David Riddiford.

Selfridges has also signed two concept development managers. Jo Lennard will concentrate on restaurants, cafes and meeting places, and Karen O'Regan will look at the food offer. Both will report to marketing director James Bidwell.

Selfridges was taken private last year by Canadian tycoon Galen Weston.
