Selfridges rejigs as Bidwell takes strategic position

Selfridges marketing director James Bidwell has been promoted to strategic projects director for the Wittington Fashion Retail Group.

The WFRG was formed by Selfridges owner Galen Weston in February and is tasked with developing closer ties with stablemates Brown Thomas in Dublin, and Holt Renfrew in Canada. Selfridges head of marketing Bev Churchill moves up to the position of marketing director.

Wittington deputy chairman Allan Leighton said: 'James has played a pivotal role in the development of the Selfridges brand, and his experience will be a great asset in the wider group context.'

Bidwell joined Selfridges as marketing director in 2001 from online toy retailer eToys Europe. He is one of the few senior executives to have remained on board following the£628 million privatisation deal last year, and has overseen the escalation of the department store's events calendar. He will report directly to Leighton.
