Lipsy is shutting down its website as the business focuses on selling through its own stores and via partnerships with Next and Asos.

The young fashion brand will cease trading from its ecommerce platform in January 2018.

Shoppers who visit the site from the start of next year will instead be redirected to Next, which acquired Lipsy in 2008.

Lipsy currently has 40 stores in the UK and trades from a similar number of franchised stores in overseas markets.

It plans to open “several more” shops in the autumn and is also poised to launch on London’s Oxford Street next March.

A Lipsy spokeswoman said: “As the vast majority of online sales for both Lipsy and brands are driven through the Next website, we have taken a decision to close Lipsy.co.uk with effect from January 2018.

“We will continue to focus on accelerating the growth of Lipsy and Lipsy & Co brands on Next online.”

Lipsy said there would be a “limited” number of redundancies as a result of the move.

Lipsy posted a 17% spike in revenues to £80.5m during the year to January 28, but operating profit fell 3% to £5.8m.
