Schuh has opened a store in The Mall Blackburn, while Toymaster, Perfect Home and Shoe Zone have also signed up to the scheme in recent weeks.

It is footwear retailer Schuh’s first standalone store in the area, and opened last Friday at 26 Springhill alongside existing tenants including Topshop, River Island, New Look and USC.

The Mall Blackburn, which operates from 650,000 sq ft, has been undergoing extensive improvements over recent years. The shopping centre is represented by Tushingham Moore and Montagu Evans.

Montagu Evans retail partner Martin Gudaitis said: “Since the opening of the Lord’s Square redevelopment in summer 2010 and comprehensive refurbishment of the existing malls, The Mall Blackburn has continued to improve its position within the Northwest’s retail hierarchy.

“Existing tenants are generally trading well, hence the scheme is attracting interest from new retailers to the town.”

Anchor retailer Debenhams has also completed a major extension and refurbishment of its existing Blackburn store after Bodycare and Ryman relocated their sites.

Across the new retail agreements, Baker Proudlove represented Perfect Home, Ramsdens represented Shoe Zone but Toymaster and Schuh were unrepresented.
