They may not be replaced
Sainsbury's has announced the retirement of two non-executive directors, both of them women.

June de Moller has been a non-executive director for six years, but plans to retire from the board in September.

Bridget Macaskill will also retire from the Board. However, she will stay in her position for another year to ensure continuity and succession planning. She will put herself up for re-election for the last time at the company's AGM on July 13. She took the role in February 2002.

A Sainsbury's spokesman could not confirm that the two directors will be replaced after they leave. No reason was given for their departures.

The move reduces the retailer's non-executive directors from five to three. The remaining non-executive directors on Sainsbury's board are Bob Stack, Gary Hughes and Jamie Dundas
