Sainsbury’s is to draft in 12,000 temporary staff to work in its stores over the Christmas period.

Sainsbury’s has 823 shops and employs 150,000 staff. Each store is looking to fill between 10 and 40 positions, with employment starting mid-November through to the beginning of January. Roles include checkout shifts, customer service and Sainsbury’s Online.

Sainsbury’s director of retail HR Helen Webb said: “Christmas is a very busy time for our stores and we are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working people of all ages and backgrounds to help us provide a service that is second to none.”
