Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King is understood to be among the business leaders to become advisers to Prime Minister David Cameron.

According to Sky News, King will join businesspeople such as Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP and Sir James Dyson, inventor, on an advisory group to work with Cameron on business and economic issues.

King was one of the retailers who backed the Conservatives’ National Insurance campaign ahead of the general election.

The input of business leaders will be important as the Government enforces its public spending cuts in the autumn.

Sainsbury’s declined to comment.
