Grocery and flooring retailers swap directors
Sainsbury's director of financial reporting Ian Kenyon is to join Carpetright as group finance director. Kenyon is expected to take up the role on August 30.

He replaces Darren Shapland (pictured), who has been appointed Sainsbury's chief financial officer. Carpetright chairman and chief executive Lord Harris said Kenyon 'brings with him a strong retail finance background, having had a variety of UK and mainland Europe roles at two large retailing groups over the past 11 years'.

Before joining Sainsbury's, Kenyon spent nine years at Kingfisher in a number of key financial roles, including finance director at Kingfisher Electricals in Paris. He was also involved in the integration of Castorama.

Carpetright is undergoing a period of change, both in its portfolio as the retailer experiments with a smaller store format, and at board level. Along with the departure of Shapland, Sir Harry Djangoly - a Carpetright director for 12 years - stepped down in March.
