Sainsbury's e-tail site is working again after being put out of action for much of the day because of supplier technical problems.

Service was restored this afternoon after the site went down in the early hours of this morning – the second time in a month that the online business has been beset by problems.

Today’s disruption was because of a technical problem affecting the retailer’s internet provider, Cable & Wireless.

Sainsbury’s online business caters for about 90,000 customers a week.
