Marks & Spencer has launched an iPhone app to complement its existing mobile site and provide a better shopping experience for mobile users.

As well as all the usual functionality, the app has a wish list and a barcode scanner. The wish list allows shoppers to save items either to purchase at a later date or to pass on to friends and family as gift ideas. This is also an additional way for Marks & Spencer to gather data on the way customers shop.

The technology behind the barcode scanner is designed to allow users to scan a product in-store to find other sizes, which they can then order online for home delivery or in-store collection. This promotes the omni- channel experience to customers and gives them as much choice as possible over how they shop.

The app also has some great ‘tips’, which show new users how to use it and its features. The app includes the retailer’s fashion and homeware ranges.
