Retail solutions - Somerfield axes IT director post after chief quits

Somerfield has abolished its IT director position following the sudden departure of recent postholders Gordon Scholes.

Scholes left at the end of July to pursue other avenues, according to a Somerfield spokesman. 'I'm not sure what role he has gone to, all I can say is that (Scholes) has gone to pursue a career outside Somerfield,' he said.

Scholes' role will be split between business systems development director Andy Monk and business systems executive John Pelling.
