Retail Solutions - JJB switches to Chip & PIN with Alphameric tills

JJB Sports has signed a£3.6 million deal with Alphameric for 1,600 Chip and PIN- enabled EPoS terminals and software across its 447 stores.

The system will transmit real-time sales data from stores to head office, and automate existing administration procedures, as well as handling Chip and PIN payments.

Installation will start in October, and Alphameric is hoping to complete the roll-out in time for the Chip and PIN liability shift deadline in January next year.

Alphameric chief executive Alan Morcombe said: 'The Chip and PIN programme requires retailers to introduce compliant systems by January 1, 2005, and we look forward to helping other customers meet this deadline.'
