Retail solutions - Chip & PIN trial for Pets at Home in Northampton

Pets At Home has belatedly joined the Chip and PIN trial in Northampton.

The retailer's Northampton branch is the first live Chip and PIN site for terminal provider Lloyds TSB. The trial, run by payment processing system integrator Commedia, was scheduled for the autumn, but was delayed for unspec-ified reasons.

Officially, Pets at Home said it was happy to go at its own pace. However, the retailer is making up for lost time and is rolling out the solution to the rest of its 65 UK stores.

Pets at Home IT project and support manager James Anderton said: 'We were concerned about customer acceptance of the new method of payment. Many were unaware of the technology, but once they were shown how it worked, their reaction has been encouraging.'
