Sales still growing but at the slowest rate for a year
Retail sales growth slowed from July to September, according to a National Statistics report out today.

The volume of sales increased by 1.1 per cent over the period, the lowest rise since August last year, National Statistics said.

Household goods performed best, rising 3.2 per cent on the previous three months. Electrical retailers reported improved sales, helped by the timing of a bank holiday.

However, non-food retailers found growth had slowed to 1.6 per cent in volume sales, the lowest growth since July last year.
