Retail Property - Work to start on Manchester site as lettings grow

Construction will begin next month on 120,000 sq ft (11,150 sq m) of new retail space in Harpurhey, north Manchester, kick-starting the regeneration of the rundown district centre.

Redman Heenan, a subsidiary of St Modwen Properties, is developing the site in partnership with Manchester City Council and Asda.

A large proportion of the space has already been pre-let, with Wilkinson taking 26,500 sq ft (2,460 sq m), B & M Retail 18,000 sq ft (1,670 sq m), In the Pink 4,000 sq ft (370 sq m) and Farmfoods 3,700 sq ft (345 sq m).

Terms have been agreed with several other retailers, said letting agent Johnson Fellows.
