Retail Property - Next signs up for unit at £60m Ayr Central pitch

Next has signed up as one of the anchor tenants at Ayr Central, Henry Boot Developments'£60 million retail and leisure development at Ayr town centre, Strathclyde.

The retailer has taken a 20,000 sq ft (1,860 sq m) unit, allowing it to treble its representation in the town.

The 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sq m) scheme, which is under development, will provide 22 retail units anchored by an 80,500 sq ft (7,480 sq m) Debenhams store, a communal square, cafes and restaurants. The scheme is on schedule for completion in January 2006.

Henry Boot Developments Scotland regional development manager Alan Kinloch said: 'Next is exactly the calibre of tenant we always felt would be interested in Ayr Central. This deal, coupled with the other major fashion retailers we are speaking to, makes Ayr Central the key retail development in Ayr, and undoubtedly it will be the new prime pitch upon completion.'

Springford & Co, Culverwell and Jones Lang LaSalle are the letting agents.
