The UK emerged with a clean sweep at the ICSC Solal Marketing Awards during last week's ICSC European Conference in Rome.
British Land-owned Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield and Birmingham's Bullring took every award bar one.
The Bullring advertising campaign, 'Europe's new shopping capital', sparked 'exceptional recall', according to Solal Awards chairman Eileen Connolly.
More than a million shoppers visited the Bullring in its first four days of trading.
The Bullring also topped the ICSC Marketing Awards for consumer advertising, a category where the only other finalists were Brent Cross and Meadowhall.
Meadowhall got awards for its innovative retail education and resource centre, The Source at Meadowhall - built with EU backing - and for a DVD-based campaign designed to foster better links with retailers.
Bournemouth's Castlepoint, Bluewater in Kent, Centre:mk in Milton Keynes and Brent Cross were also shortlisted for awards.
