Retail Property - Ireland's largest factory outlet planned by ING

ING Real Estate Development and Coverfield Developments have submitted a planning application for Ireland's first large-scale factory outlet centre. They plan a£60 million development opposite the racecourse in Dundalk, mid-way between Dublin and Belfast.

The 152,590 sq ft (14,175 sq m) outlet mall, designed by S&P Architects, will provide 80 retail units, as well as cafes and creche facilities.

ING opened the Dalton Park outlet mall in County Durham in April 2003, and has two other outlet schemes under construction, in Spain and Italy.

In addition, Coverfield is a subsidiary of RJ McKinney, which has two outlet schemes under development in Portugal and Hungary.

Managing director Billy McKinney said: 'Being equi-distant from Dublin and Belfast makes it the natural spot for such a specialist development.'
