Retail Property - Henderson set to close retail warehouse fund

Underlining the strength of investor demand for the retail warehouse sector, Henderson Global Investors has announced the final closing of its retail warehouse fund.

It has raised£117.5 million in new investment from five new institutions, bringing the total number of investors to 13.

Since its launch in July 2001, the fund has grown from six properties with a value of£180 million, to 15 properties worth more than£550 million today. The most significant recent purchase was a majority stake in the 50,000 sq m Brewery scheme at Romford. Fund Director Neil Varnham said the final target size for the fund is£750 million.

'I am pleased we successfully raised a substantial amount of new equity, and also managed to invest most of this capital in very competitive market conditions,' he added.
