Retail Property - Gretna Gateway phase two gets M&S as anchor

Marks & Spencer has agreed terms to anchor the second phase of the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village at Gretna Green, Scotland.

M&S has signed a 10-year lease on a prominent 9,100 sq ft (845 sq m) unit at the entrance to the new phase for its 19th Outlet store. Shopfitting will begin in August, with opening scheduled for October.

The scheme's developer, Northridge Capital, expects to have 85 per cent of the 48,000 sq ft (4,460 sq ft) second phase committed by June this year.

It has already agreed terms with Baron Jon, Mountain Warehouse and Ice Blue childrenswear. On completion of the new phase, Gretna Gateway will have 130,000 sq ft (14,000 sq m) of outlet retailing.

Marks & Spencer head of Outlets Mark Ashman said: 'The Phase 2 development will bring further critical mass to a centre that has an ideal motorway location.'
