Retail Property - Ex-Arcadia boss Stuart Rose joins Land Securities

Ex-Arcadia chief executive Stuart Rose has joined the Land Securities board as a non-executive director.

Rose left Arcadia in December 2002, after Philip Green's acquisition of the fashion group, but his retail experience also includes stints at Marks & Spencer, the Burton Group and Booker.

Land Securities chairman, Peter Birch said: 'With retail representing more than 50 per cent of our portfolio, we believe that Rose's wealth of experience will add substantial value to the Group through his understanding of retailers and their customer needs.'

The announcement came as Land Securities unveiled a strong set of results from its retail portfolio in the year to March 31, 2003. The high street and shopping centre holdings rose in value by 7.8 per cent over the year, and the retail warehouse portfolio saw a 10 per cent uplift.
