Retail Property - C&J Clark takes unit at Chatham Maritime outlet

Footwear manufacturer and retailer C&J Clark has opened a 4,950 sq ft (460 sq m) unit in the newly-opened Dockside outlet centre in Chatham Maritime, north Kent.

The store, located at the front entrance of the centre, has been taken on a 10-year lease on a turnover rent.

Other recent openings since the centre's launch on July 2 have been Room, Leading Labels, Thorntons and Seven Designer Outlet. In addition, Suits You/Young's Hire/Autonomy, Benetton/Sisley, Julian Graves, Sheridan Australia, Millies Cookies, Playlife and Bags Etc are all fitting out units to open in August.

The Dockside outlet centre is a 150,000 sq ft (14,00 sq m) leisure destination, with up to 70 retail units and 12,000 sq ft (1,115 sq m) of restaurant space let to Burger King, Mega Wok, O'Brien's Irish and Fat Jackets.

According to the landlord, 15,000 shoppers visited the centre on its opening day and retailers continue to report a high level of sales.
