Retail Property - Administrators poised to sell Les Smith sites

The collapse into administration of the Les Smith chain of car parts stores has brought much-needed supply to the tight retail market in London and the Southeast.

Geoff Carton-Kelly and Colin Haig of Baker Tilly, joint administrators for Alton Motor Factor trading as Les Smith, have put the entire portfolio of 42 retail outlets around South London and the South Coast on the market through Edward Symmons & Partners. The units are all lock-up shops comprising 1,500 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft (140 sq m to 185 sq m), in locations including Surbiton, Woking, Tonbridge, Hove, Winchester and Southampton.

The business is being offered as a going concern, but Edward Symmons anticipates keen interest. 'This sale offers an unusual opportunity to a retailer wanting to establish a presence in key locations,' said partner Steve Skinner.
