Retail is high on Mayoral agenda

London's Mayoral candidates are slugging it out over elections on retailing in the capital in the run-up to elections on Super Thursday. Nominations for the June 10 elections close next week.

Liberal Democrat candidate Simon Hughes set the ball rolling at his manifesto launch on Monday, when he vowed to pedestrianise Oxford Street at weekends. He would also stop congestion charging at 5pm.

Tory candidate Steve Norris dismissed the pedestrianisation scheme, warning it would be 'bad for business', and pledged to scrap the congestion charge.

Ken Livingstone has yet to outline his re-election programme.
