Grossly misleading stats though. The major supermarkets will have to bear £7bn of additional costs....from their collective £149bn profits. Further down the chain, mid sized retailers will have a midsized burden to find, whilst most small retail outlets will use the allowance to avoid the payments. Don't use the big figures from the big organisations that can afford it, to press home a problem only the mid tier companies will face. Tesco et al will have to pay the government instead of their shareholders.
