Extremely unhelpful comments for the industry as it’s fairly clear he thinks this budget should be accepted with a weak argument that rates should be fairer and perhaps delay the national insurance increase . A lost opportunity to add JLPs weight to the industry argument that this budget is a disaster for retail and of course it will result in high inflation as all retailers have just one lever left to pull and that is increased prices.
