What an absolute disgrace . What kind of company is it that puts a division of its stores in to administration in order to avoid paying the remaining rent on its leases.

Can you imagine any decent company that is clearly not in financial distress deciding to use the outdated administration laws in order to avoid its responsibilities?

The right way to have dealt with this was to approach the landlords of these stores and negotiate an early exit from the leases . No doubt during the acquisition other debts were assumed by the subsidiary in order for them to be written off as they planned.

This kind of action from this disgraceful company is exactly why retail suffers from negativity as an industry and it is why the government need to change the insolvency laws as urgent.
