Property News - KFC begins Southeastern push

KFC, advised by Vail Williams and Burns Property Consultants, is targeting the Southeast as part of a strategy to open 60 stores over the next 12 months.

In recent weeks, the fast food chain has acquired four sites in Hampshire and East Sussex. It has bought a 1.24 acre (0.5 ha) site from Tesco at North Harbour, Portsmouth, with plans for a 2,900 sq ft (270 sq m) drive-thru restaurant with 35 parking spaces.

In Lottbridge Drove at Eastbourne, East Sussex, it is taking a 20-year lease at£75,000 a year on a 2,900 sq ft (270 sq m) unit, with completion due in February.

At the Bognor retail park at Bognor Regis, a pre-let has been agreed on a 2,580 sq ft (240 sq m) drive-thru on a 20-year lease at£23.50 per sq ft (£253 per sq m). The unit will open in the summer. Terms have also been agreed for a 2,900 sq ft (270 sq m) drive-thru at the Ravenside Retail Park at Bexhill, East Sussex, on a 20-year lease at£25 per sq ft (£269 per sq m).
